FC Barcelona [Barça] wins La Liga

[May 14th/15th, 2016]

The best part of soccer (said -fútbol- here!) in Spain is that even if you’re not genuinely up to date with the sport, aka doesn’t matter if you know the rules, what games are currently happening or which players are the favorites, you can still appreciate how it culturally unifies the country.. this unity and patriotism was so clearly felt as Catalonia VIVACIOUSLY celebrated the league win by covering the streets with people chanting, singing, honking their car horns, and congratulating each other while waving Barça’s flag and lining the city streets with the teams colors.

We had just arrived back in the city center after dropping off our rental car and the energy felt was quite literally palpable! La Rambla and Avenida Paral lel were SWAMPED with people of every age, Barça flags we’re being passed out and many people hung off their balconies to take in the festivities. Being in Spain during the prime of soccer season was definitely something worth experiencing!
